Ben Archer is programme leader/year tutor for BA (Hons) Communication Arts. He is a Senior Lecturer in the Leicester Media School and teaches TECH1501 Communication Practice 1, TECH2502 Communication Practice 2. He also works on the BA (Hons) Media Production programme teaching TECH1004 Image Capture and supervising final year students on TECH3010 Technology Project.
Ben worked as a teenager in an American vintage clothing store on the Kings Road, London at the height of punk. He did a Foundation in Art & Design in Brighton and trained as Graphic Designer at Middlesex Polytechnic. He went on to work in commercial design, branding, signage, packaging, publishing and advertising in London and Auckland, New Zealand. He has a keen interest in cult films and travelling to European cities.
Ben collaborated with the Dutch designer and author, Joep Pohlen, on the typography textbook Letter Fountain, published by Taschen in May 2015, and with the English design historian and author, Mark Ovenden, on the BBC4 documentary Two Types, which screened on July 31 2017.
