Release

Released in 2001 on the Xbox, it quickly became one of the selling points of the console. It was developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft, due to it being published by Microsoft it was an Xbox exclusive. Halo is one of the largest game changers for the first person shooter genre since the original days of Doom and Wolfenstein, It's innovative game play and liberal use of colour made it stick in the minds of the people, enough for them to create a sequel - Halo 2

Plot

The game opens as the Pillar of Autumn exits slipspace near a mysterious ring-shaped space station, called "Halo" by the enemy of the game, the Covenant. A Covenant fleet attacks and heavily damages the Pillar of Autumn. Captain Keyes initiates "The Cole Protocol," a procedure designed to prevent the Covenant from learning the location of Earth. While Keyes prepares to land the ship on Halo, Master Chief and Cortana escape via an escape pod, which crash lands on the ring. Cortana and the Chief are the only ones who survive the impact of the escape pod crash.

After this Master Chief goes on a quest to destroy the flood and the halo ring.


Halo 2

Released in November 2004 initially for the original Xbox and then releasing on Windows in 2006 and Xbox one in 2014 as part of the Halo: The Master Chief Collection. On its release, halo 2 was the most popular game on Xbox live until Gears of war was released in 2006. by June 2006, more the 500 million Games of Halo 2 had been played and had over 710 million hours playing the game on Xbox live. Due to time restraints when creating the game, the Campaign was left on a Cliffhanger leaving may in the studio dissatisfied and was criticized in publications. The game still received critical acclaim with most publications praising its multiplayer experience.
