Harry Potter is a popular 7 book series written by J. K. Rowling. It follows the story of boy wizard Harry Potter as he follows through his 7 years at Hogwarts alongside trying to defeat the dark wizard Voldemort.

Written by J. K. Rowling, the entire Harry Potter series has been named the highest selling book series since it's first publication in the series in 1997 the books have sold around 500 million copies.

Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone The First novel in the series, published in 1997 and as of 2012, Philosopher’s Stone has been translated into 74 languages and over 107 million copies have been sold worldwide.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets The second novel in the series, the book follows Harry and his friends as they face a dangerous foe,the monster from the chambers far below the school, intent on killing the muggleborns.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Third novel in the series, The book follows Harry as he learns to deal with the threat and fear of death, as he learns more about his parents life and deaths all the while he's being chased by a killer.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Forth novel in the series, Harry is unwillingly entered into the Triwizard Tournament, a dangerous competition between the three main magic school, and there is something about his unwilling participation that hints towards foul play at Hogwarts. And why does his scar keep burning?

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix Fifth novel in the series, the longest book in the series. After a lonely summer on Privet Drive, Harry returns to a Hogwarts full of ill-fortune. Few of students and parents believe him or Dumbledore that Voldemort is really back. The ministry had decided to step in by appointing a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher that proves to be the nastiest person Harry has ever encountered.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince The sixth novel in the series, in both wizard and muggle worlds Lord Voldemort and his henchmen are increasingly active. With vacancies to fill at Hogwarts, Professor Dumbledore persuades Horace Slughorn, back from retirement to become the potions teacher, while Professor Snape receives long awaited news. Harry Potter, together with Dumbledore, must face treacherous tasks to defeat his evil nemesis.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows The seventh and final book, this was split into two films, unlike the others for which one film was sufficient. Harry is forced to go on the run from Voldemort and most of his friends, it is the thrilling finale to the series.

Hogwarts Houses

The following houses are the four based within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

  • Gryffindor
  • Ravenclaw
  • Slytherin
  • Hufflepuff

Students are sorted into each house at the start of their first year during the first year, and the house they each belong to represents their characteristics.
