LinkedIn is a social networking service with a focus on business and professional networking.

Usability

LinkedIn, allows you to create a virtual CV on your online profile where you can display your experiences, jobs, awards and contact details. The user can then connect with colleagues and friends by clicking the connect button on someones profile. This will then send a request to the other user. If the other user rejects an invitation, you will only be able to connect with someone if you have their email address. Once users are connected, recommendations and references can be sent to fellow users for those viewing profiles to see. The site is available in 20 Languages.

History

LinkedIn was created in December 2012 before its May 2003 launch. As of 2013, Linked has gained 259 million users in over 200 countries. This figure is up from the 20 million users it had in 2006. In January 2011, the site announced it was filling for public offering on the New York Stock Exchange user the symbol LNKD.
