Punk rock music is one of many sub-genres of rock music that was developed in the United Kingdom and United States. Punk rock typically is short but fast paced, with hard edged styles to it. The lyrics to the songs may be inappropriate at times and may even be political or anti-establishment. Many punk rock bands self produce their own songs and distribute them though smaller record labels or through informal channels. However by the end of the 20th century Pop Punk became more popular because of its more mainstream style. The likes of Green Day, The OffSpring, Sum 41 and Blink 182 are part of the Punk rock/Pop Punk Genre
